A laboratory information system for pathology departments. Study log, slide barcoding, a digital WSI viewer, telepathology and storage of whole-slide images in DICOM format — on a single platform.
The lab technician receives the container, prints barcodes for cassettes and slides, fills in the study record and takes the study through each step — tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, scanning. Every step is logged automatically, so nothing gets lost.
Specimen intake and barcodes. Label printing for cassettes and slides, linked to the patient, the container and the referral from the HIS.
Step tracking. Grossing, tissue processing, paraffin embedding, microtomy, H&E / IHC staining — every step with a timestamp and the person responsible.
Data exchange with lab equipment. Direct connection to tissue processors, embedding stations, automated stainers and WSI scanners.
Orders for additional slides. The pathologist requests additional IHC staining or a recut in one click — the request goes straight to the lab technician’s log.
Shift analytics. Turnaround time, bottlenecks by step, equipment load, reports on volumes and turnaround times.
Pathologists see their own pool of cases, open a slide scan right in the browser, move between magnifications without reloading, measure, annotate and compare H&E with IHC. The report is written from a template, with the patient details section filled in automatically — then it is signed under Federal Law No. 63-FZ “On Electronic Signature” and sent to the HIS.
WSI viewer. Smooth zoom from overview to ×40 without lag, multi-slide comparison, synchronized navigation across parallel stains.
Annotations and measurements. Ruler, angle, ROI, area, object counting — bookmarks are saved in the case together with their coordinates.
Disease-specific report templates. Structured reports for oncology, gynecology, urology, the GI tract and skin — with auto-fill and stage calculation.
Qualified electronic signature (QES) and second opinion. Electronic signature under 63-FZ, routing for verification, a log of revisions and approvals.
AI assistant. Mitosis highlighting, Ki-67 scoring, structure segmentation — modules can be connected via API.
Module 03 · WSI archive · Telepathology
Whole-slide images in DICOM — for years
A single slide scan takes up tens of gigabytes. The ArchiMed archive stores scans in DICOM format with pyramidal tile-based retrieval, replicates them to a cold site and serves them to any healthcare facility in the region for remote consultation. No vendor lock-in — standard formats and protocols.
DICOM Whole Slide Imaging. Storage under the Supplement 145 standard; import of SVS, NDPI, MRXS, VMS, TIFF, BIF — all the major WSI scanners.
Telepathology. Request a second opinion from an expert at another healthcare facility — they open the same scan and the same case, with no file copying.
Hierarchical storage. Hot scans on SSD, cold archive on disk arrays with deduplication.
Personal data security. Storage-level encryption, de-identification for AI model training, access auditing, FSTEC certificate (Federal Service for Technical and Export Control of Russia).
Integration with EGISZ (Unified State Health Information System of Russia). Export of electronic medical documents (EMD) with histology reports, exchange with regional radiology information systems (RRIS) and Central Medical Image Archives (CMIA).

WSINEW
End-to-end workflow
One pipeline from container to signature
Everything the lab does with the specimen and everything the pathologist does with the image — in one system with a shared barcode.
STEP 01
Intake
A container from the operating room — referral from the HIS, barcode printing, study record.
STEP 02
Processing
Grossing, dehydration, paraffin embedding — status and timestamps for every cassette.
STEP 03
Staining
Microtomy, H&E, IHC, special stains — requests between the pathologist and the lab technician.
STEP 04
Scanning
The WSI scanner uploads the scan straight to the DICOM archive — the case is ready for reporting.
STEP 05
Report
Template-based reporting, annotations, QES, delivery to the HIS and the patient portal.
